At Athletica Health + Wellness, we are proud to provide osteopathic care for Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) clients. Our experienced osteopaths are here to support the health and wellbeing of those who have served, offering gentle and effective hands-on treatment tailored to your unique needs.
Whether you’re experiencing chronic pain, mobility issues, or the cumulative effects of service-related strain on the body, our team is ready to help. How Do You Access DVA Osteopathy at Athletica?
To access osteopathic treatment under DVA, you’ll need:
A DVA Gold or White Card (White Card for specific approved conditions)
A referral from your GP, made out to one of our osteopaths
Once you have your referral, simply call our clinic or book online, and let us know you're a DVA client. We’ll take care of the rest. What to Expect in Your Initial Appointment
Your first osteopathic appointment is all about understanding you and your body. It typically includes:
A detailed case history, including your service history and current symptoms
A physical assessment, examining posture, movement, and muscle or joint function
Hands-on treatment, which may include soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, stretching, and gentle manual techniques
Discussion of a care plan, including your goals, expected outcomes, and treatment frequency
We always tailor our approach based on your comfort, mobility level, and individual needs. You’re in control — and we’re here to listen.
What Happens in Follow-Up Appointments?
Subsequent sessions build on your initial treatment, allowing for ongoing care and progress. These appointments may focus on:
Targeted manual therapy
Postural education
Strength and mobility exercises
Pain management strategies
Our goal is to restore comfort, increase mobility, and improve quality of life — without rushing or pushing your body beyond its capacity.
What Can Osteopathy Help With?
Osteopathic treatment can benefit a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including:
Lower back and neck pain
Shoulder and hip tension
Knee, ankle, and foot pain
Postural strain and stiffness
Headaches and jaw discomfort
Chronic pain and overuse injuries
Recovery from surgeries or falls
Injury specific conditions
Whether your discomfort is service-related or has developed over time, our osteopaths can help identify the underlying cause and provide hands-on relief.
How Might You Feel Afterwards?
Most clients feel relief, increased mobility, or improved ease of movement after treatment. Some may feel temporarily sore or tired — this is normal and typically subsides within 24–48 hours as your body adjusts.
We always encourage gentle movement, hydration, and rest after your appointment. You’ll also receive advice and home-care exercises where appropriate.
